Since 1982, Gerhard Mutz does photography with single-lens reflex cameras. He perfected his knowledge up to a professional level through many courses, workshops and studies of books. He did product and event shootings for different companies and organizations. He won prizes in a number of photo competitions (for ex. Nature Reserve Nuthe-Nieplitz/Brandenburg, Germany, 2015, and "Champa Meuanglao" (inflight magazine Lao Airline) 2018). His photo exhibitions in Moscow and Ivanovo/Russia in 2014 found their way to Russian TV presence. In 2015 and 2016 he gave week-long photography courses for children with the subsequent opportunity of a much publicised photo exhibition for the young students in Nuthe-Urstromtal/ Brandenburg, Germany. In November/December 2019 he presented his photos about Laos in a Photoexhibition in Vientiane. Gerhard Mutz was born in 1960 in a small village in Bavaria/Germany. He is married, has five children and one grandchild. He began his career as a coachwork builder, but then started onto a quite different path: He studied languages and learnt Russian, Ukrainian, English and, on a lower level, French, Lao and Spanish. He worked for 10 years in Moscow/Russia and for 8 years in Kiev/Ukraine at German Embassies and other diplomatic missions as, among other functions, translator and interpreter. Further he lived and worked 4 years in Vientiane/Laos and is currently in Atlanta/Georgia (USA). After postgraduate studies he became teacher for German as a foreign language. In his free time he runs ultra marathons, plays the guitar, goes hiking with his dogs and is a passionate biker.
